Introduction

The Television Studio space, part of the Division of Communication Sciences and Design (DCCD) at the Cuajimalpa Campus, has been conceived as a creative laboratory where image and sound come together to bring high-quality audiovisual productions to life. Designed for experimentation and learning, it offers a professional environment equipped with the necessary infrastructure to explore every stage of the production process.

It features acoustic conditioning and a specialized lighting system that ensures optimal recording standards. Among its available resources are a large green screen, ideal for real-time image overlay and compositing; a dressing room for talent preparation; a mobile, versatile stage adaptable to different production needs; and a prop storage area that facilitates the setting of each project.

Additionally, it includes six professional cameras, an advanced intercom system, specialized lighting equipment, and two fully equipped production control rooms that allow for real-time content capture, editing, and streaming. It also offers two sound monitoring booths optimized to ensure impeccable acoustic quality in every production.

More than just a recording set, this space bridges theory and practice, bringing students closer to the realities of the audiovisual field. It is a key resource for training in television and film production and a medium for creating academic, research, and cultural outreach content. Its impact goes beyond the Department of Communication and Digital Culture, benefiting all academic divisions and strengthening the creative ecosystem at the Cuajimalpa Campus.

Projects and Activities

Use of the Television Studio in Academic Training

The Television Studio of the Division of Communication and Design Sciences at the Cuajimalpa Campus is an essential space for academic training in undergraduate and graduate programs. Its professional infrastructure enables students and faculty to develop audiovisual projects with high-quality standards, combining theory and practice in a real production environment.

In the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, the studio is a key resource for exploring the relationship between design and audiovisual media. Students use this space to develop projects in animation, motion graphics, interactive experience design, and visual narratives, applying visual communication principles and experimenting with editing and post-production tools. They can conceptualize and produce innovative pieces that merge creativity and technology by integrating image, sound, and visual effects.

Regarding the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences, the television studio is fundamental for teaching and practicing television production, multimedia content creation, audiovisual journalism, and digital communication. Students can experiment with audiovisual language, record in a professional environment, and work on producing programs, documentaries, news reports, and informative content. They can also explore innovative digital communication formats and dissemination strategies across multimedia platforms.

At the graduate level, the studio plays a central role in the Master’s Program in Design, Information, and Communication, where it is used to produce transdisciplinary projects that integrate design, communication, and technology. Students apply research and audiovisual production methodologies at this level to create academic, scientific, and cultural materials, exploring new narratives and emerging technologies. From creating scientific documentaries to producing interactive and experimental content, this space fosters innovation and the development of proposals that transcend the academic sphere.

Thus, the Television Studio strengthens training in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Division of Communication and Design Sciences and promotes creativity, experimentation, and the production of content that has an impact on both the university community and the professional field.
