Profile

Dr. Alma Vanessa Arvizu Reynaga holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the Faculty of Superior Studies Acatlán at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She graduated from the specialty in Sociology of Higher Education from the Azcapotzalco campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), where she also completed and obtained a master's and doctoral degree in Sociology. She conducted a postdoctoral stay in the Network of Studies on Inequalities at the College of Mexico. Currently, she is a professor-researcher in the Sociology Area of the Azcapotzalco campus of UAM.

She has worked in both the public and private sectors as a trainer for teaching staff and public officials in the prevention and eradication of gender-based violence in educational spaces, as well as in gender perspective training. In 2020, she collaborated with the Gender Coordination of the National Autonomous University of Mexico to create a guide for the eradication of gender biases in the hiring of academic staff at this university and an analysis of gender biases present in the daily practices of the university community. During her postdoctoral stay at the College of Mexico, she collaborated on the development of two public policy analysis documents: Early Pregnancy in Mexico. Overview of public strategies for its attention and Early Pregnancy in Mexico. An analysis of the decentralized implementation of Enapea.

She currently serves as a visiting professor in the Sociology Area of the Universities of the Azcapotzalco campus of UAM. She is a candidate for the National System of Researchers, a member of the Mexican Council of Educational Research, and the Network of Young Researchers of the Youth Research Seminar of UNAM.
