Profile

Professor Alejandra Miranda is a Chemist Bacteriologist Parasitologist graduated from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua. She received her B.Sc and Ph.D in Chemical and Biological Sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Miranda made a postdoc in the Department of Biotechnology and Bioengineering of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the IPN. She is currently a professor and researcher at the Department of Environmental Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Lerma Campus.

Her research work focuses on the study of microbial communities of environmental and agricultural importance and microorganisms with biotechnological potential. Her areas of interest are microbial ecology, bioremediation, environmental microbiology, host-microorganism interaction, omics sciences, and bioinformatics, among others.

She has published scientific articles in indexed journals of international quality, popular science articles, and book chapters. She has presented her research at national and international conferences. She has also directed or co-directed social service projects, professional practices, terminal projects, and bachelor's thesis and has been part of the tutorial committee for bachelor's and doctoral students.

Likewise, she has collaborated in mentoring programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to contribute to the empowerment of young women and bring them closer to the world of STEM.
