Professor Alma Patricia De León Calderón studied her Ph.D. in Social Sciences, in the area of Society and Territory at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus. She received her Master's degree in Regional Studies from the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luís Mora. She holds a degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas and a law degree from the same university. She is a candidate to the National System of Researchers (SNI).

She has worked in different areas of the federal public administration: as Deputy Director of Project Integration in the Private Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic from 2013 to 2015; she also worked as Head of Department of the Subdirectorate of Statistics, in the Executive Directorate of the Federal Registry of Voters (DERFE) from 2008 to 2009; in the same DERFE she coordinated the Special Project of Visits to the Citizen Attention Modules in 2007.

She has been a consultant for various civil society organizations in Mexico for more than ten years. Since 2016, she has been a Professor in the Department of Social Processes of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Lerma Campus.

Her lines of research are: Analysis and evaluation of social public policies; interactions and types of social capital; analysis of social networks focused on the study of public policies; and the region defined as a process of flow networks.
