Profile
Professor Areli García González was born in Mexico City, she is an Industrial Designer and Master in Sciences and Arts for Design from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus. She has won awards in competitions such as the Michelin Creative Movement (2008) and Tulip Art Sustainable Design Nuffic Neso Mexico (2011); as well as the academic distinction of the Medal of Merit in Undergraduate (1997) and Postgraduate (2012).
She is a Professor attached to the Department of the Environment in the Research Area Factors of the Artificial Environment and Design, and is a member of the Ergonomics Laboratory. She teaches the UEA Product Ergonomics, Integrated Product Development I, II, III, and Design and Analysis of Structures. Advisor in the Postgraduate Program in Product Design and Development at the Azcapotzalco Campus.
Operational responsible for the Diploma in Contemporary Jewelry of the same Unit and jury in the "First free jewelry contest" convened by the company Tumbiko, Mexican handmade jewelry (2016).
She has participated in research projects related to the Design of technical aids for people with Achondroplasia, Design of materials for the integration of children and young people and, in the Ergonomic analysis of the jeweler's workplace, for the Design and development of furniture for the jewelry workshop of the Azcapotzalco Campus.
The topics she has taught in different lectures are the following: Perspective of objects in the city from a vision of Industrial Design (2016), Social Benefit of Work in the Ergonomics Laboratory of the Azcapotzalco Campus (2016), Art, Design and something more (2015), Professional Practice of Industrial Design (2014), Impact of Design in the Museum (2013), Art in Industrial Design (2012), The Total Art (2011) and Experiences and reflections of a design firm (2009).
She has 20 years of professional experience in product design, interactive exhibits, and museography. Collaborator in the technological project Baby Duino, carried out at the Laboratory for Citizen Innovation (Labic MX), and presented during the Summit of Heads of State and Government of Ibero-American countries. A workshop that proposes the development and prototyping of citizen innovation projects with application in Ibero-America. Ibero-American Secretariat of the Interior (SGI), Telmex and Government of Veracruz (2014). Bronze Mention in the Quorum Award in the category: Professional Public Furniture (2004) and Honorable Mention in the competition for Industrial Designers "Clara Porset" (1996).
She is currently a member of the Studies Committee of the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design and Coordinator of Professional Practices in the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design of the Azcapotzalco Campus.
