Profile

Professor Carlos Alberto Ríos Gordillo is a historian with a degree from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Autonomous University of Chiapas (FCS-UNACH), in San Cristóbal de Las Casas; he holds a master's degree and a doctorate in history from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus, and has been a student of the Zapatista Escuelita, organized by the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN).

She was part of the Editorial Committee of the magazine Contrahistorias. La otra mirada de Clío (numbers 1 to 26), in which he was author, translator, and editor, also collaborating in the Collection "Los libros de Contrahistorias". He was co-founder of the "Immanuel Wallerstein Center", then endorsed by Professor Wallerstein, at the University of the Earth (CIDECI-UNITIERRA) in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas.

He was a professor of theory of history, medieval history, and modern history in the Bachelor's Degree in History of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UNACH; as well as a professor of theory of history and historiography in the Bachelor's Degree in History and Contemporary Society of the Cuautepec Campus, of which he was the founder and still teaches at the Autonomous University of Mexico City (UACM). He has been an evaluator and reviewer of journals and books from various publishers in Mexico, United States, and Latin America, as well as Conacyt evaluator of Postgraduate PNPC (Humanities Area, 2018-2019).

He is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus, assigned to the research area: "Sociological Analysis of History". He has a Desirable Profile (PRODEP-SEP), Coordinator of the Curricular Axis of SocioHistory (Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, UAM Azcapotzalco Campus) and a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI-Conacyt) Level I.

He is author of: The Forms of Comparison: Marc Bloch and the Human Sciences. Ensayo de morfología e historia (Col. Pensamiento Crítico/Pensamiento Utópico; 220) Barcelona: Anthropos Editorial, Mexico: UAM Iztapalapa Campus, 2016, 237 p.

His lines of research are the following: Critical thinking and contemporary Historiography; Social movements, and anti-systemic movements.
